CLINE OIL IS AN EFFECTIVE AFTER-TREATMENT
Unglazed, dry spaces can be finished with clinker oil. Clinker oil is a treatment product used for the maintenance of, among other things, stone and ceramic tiles. The oil is water-repellent and works in such a way that it penetrates into the pores of the plate. The plate then becomes more resistant to dirt and water, and acquires a natural luster. However, clinker oil should not be used on marble, slate and glazed clinker as these stones can become discoloured.
CLEAN THE SURFACE BEFORE APPLICATION
Applying clinker oil is simple and can be done yourself. Start by cleaning the surface thoroughly and wait until it dries completely. When the surface is completely dry, the tile oil is applied in a thin layer using a brush or cloth until the tiles are saturated. When the surface has then dried sufficiently (after about an hour), remove any excess oil with the help of a dry cloth.
DO NOT USE CLINKER OIL WHEN IT IS TOO COLD
Keep in mind that the humidity should not be too high when applying the oil and the temperature should not be below 5°C. When you have applied the tile oil, it is dry for use after about a day, but it takes several days before it is completely hardened.
Clinker oil from different manufacturers can vary slightly, but this applies in the general case and is good information to have in the back of your mind.
