A plot of land with great challenges - the Archipelago villa
FINALLY IN PLACE!
The starting point, a challenging plot of land in different levels, where we had to fill up under the house to come up to the level of the lovely rock slabs we brought out today. We chose Villa Nybro from Smålandsvillan, which we pimped out with a hall extension and a double garage.
CREATE AVAILABILITY
Two loads of gravel (0-32) and a rented mine digger get to create our first temporary entrance. Not quite the paving we dream of having when we're done.
BINDING HOUSES AND MOUNTAINS TOGETHER - ALTAN STAGE 1
To create cohesion with the back and the lovely outcrops, we build a patio deck that connects between the house and the mountain. It's a bit of a hassle to saw, but with a hand-made instrument it's easier!
EXCAVATE, LEVEL OUT AND CREATE A PLAYING SURFACE
Although we think stone is wonderful, beautiful, easy to care for and allergy-free, the children need a play surface. We once again hired diggers, and dug out what was in the 'lake' at the back, filled up and leveled against a natural stone retaining wall so we could make an even and level grass area behind the garage. We have filled the 'lake' with large draining gravel, 16-32, and here we have plans to build an orangery with a brick plinth, ground stone inside for an easy-to-maintain surface, and perhaps a brick stove for some warmth on autumn evenings.
In order to fill up the front of the plot at the level of the house, we have chosen to wall with lecast, which will later be covered with a surface layer of granite facing stone. Once up at the entrance level at the front, we have envisioned a stone-paved walkway, demarcated plantings with decorative stone, we envision a bit of the Mediterranean with lavender, wintergreen, roses against stone in shades of gray. There will be three stairs, one up to the entrance, one down between the main entrance and garage and one up in the garden at the back.
BIND TOGETHER
Having finished the second stage of the terrace, we can now use the kitchen door and go straight up into the kitchen garden to get salad, herbs etc for cooking. Where we drilled our way through the rock to draw drainage from the mountain's 'lake', we fixed with concrete and smooth, flat stones to bind together again. gravel of some kind, with step-stones, but we have not yet been able to decide which.

REACH ON THE BALCONY DOWN TO THE STREET
As the difference in height is just over a meter with a slope below, we have chosen to build a railing as framing and protection. We spin further on the proximity to the sea and our rocks and have chosen a New England style for it. Poles must also be painted white, cut to the correct height and given a sheet metal cap.
