Indoors - Limestone

Have you thought about laying limestone indoors?
Limestone is a beautiful natural stone with a strong historical expression and lots of texture and veins. We at Stenbolaget have good experience with limestone in indoor environments and keep a wide range in our product portfolio. The stone company sells limestone for many different indoor environments and a limestone floor provides both a living surface and an exclusive setting for the home.

Geographical origin of limestone!
Limestone can be found in many places in the world, and our Swedish limestone can be found everywhere in the country. Öland, Jämtland and Gotland are three common locations for limestone quarries and the production of limestone floor tiles. Three incredibly popular types of limestone that come in a wide variety of shades, colors, surface textures and with different places of origin.

Jura limestone is one of our most popular limestones in the range. The stone has furnished many homes over the years and we have good experience with Jura limestone for the home. The stone originates in Germany and we stock three different grades of Jura limestone. Grey, Beige and GreyBeige. The color range means that the stone has been sorted into the mentioned shades. GråBeige is the cheapest stone in the series and comes in wide shade differences where the tiles walk in strong contrasts between exactly Gray and Beige in the same tiles. An installation of a Grey/Beige sorting can create a great effect for the floor. The speckled tiles and the deep texture create a very exciting home environment. The polished surface makes the Jura limestone an excellent stone floor or stone wall in the home!

Limestone with fossil imprints and a rich history!
Fossils are commonly found in limestone slabs. However, fossil images will not be found in all parts that are mined. But if you're lucky, you can get a historical imprint in your floor or on your wall, which gives a completely unique stone surface that is rarely the same. The fossils that hide and that we sometimes find in limestone are usually formed by historical coral animals, squid, snails and trilobites.

Where can you put limestone?
Limestone can be installed in living rooms, kitchens, hallways and bedrooms. Limestone is a relatively soft stone material and is a little more sensitive to liquids. This makes the stone less suitable for use as floors in shower corners and the like. Bathroom floors around a floor drain often get standing water that can affect the surface of the stone. Even shampoo, detergents and other acidic substances can damage the stone and make it difficult to clean. For a saturation of the surface and a simple impregnation of limestone, natural soap diluted with water is recommended. With regular use, this forms a somewhat protective effect without sealing the stone's pores completely. For bathrooms and shower corners, however, durable granite ceramics with the impression of limestone are available as a complement.

Although the natural material limestone is sensitive to acid, we are still talking about stone and a limestone floor is still durable and hard-wearing. But it is important to have knowledge about the material you choose. Limestone floors provide a homely environment where the material comes with a wide texture and where the tiles can vary between a number of different shades in the same sections.

Limestone and trends
Limestone for inlay floors is a common question we get at Stenbolaget. Limestone is both stylish and timeless and has decorated our homes, stairwells, schools and public spaces over the years. With a limestone, you get a living indoor floor and a homely feeling wherever you install the stone. Choose from a variety of surface treatments, surface formats, shades and limestone with different origins to find the right stone for your home. Limestone has been trendy for a long time and today we see a growing trend where the classic stone with a certain rural feel finds a home in both the modern villa milo and in the one with a simpler standard. Limestone enriches the floor and gives a nice texture against the often monochromatic walls.
