Delivery issues
It is important that you check the delivery as soon as possible and notify Stenbolaget by phone on 08-503 350 00 as soon as possible. However, no later than seven days after delivery. Preferably check the goods together with the driver in connection with delivery and they will make a note in case something is broken or wrong.
A full pallet of paving stones weighs approx. 1200 kg. Some pallets with e.g. granite curbstone can weigh as much as 1500 kg.
Stenbolaget delivers between 06:00 and 21:00. During the high season April-September, our drivers work intensively to deliver all orders, so it can be difficult to specify a time when your delivery will take place.
You should look for the following: Damage to packages and packaging, that the correct quantity has been delivered and that the correct products have been delivered. Carefully match the delivery against your receipt and check that the color, size, number etc. match.
We recommend that you check the goods directly upon delivery together with the driver. Should an error be discovered later, but no later than 7 days after delivery, contact Stenbolaget at kundservice@stenbolaget.se or tel: 08-50335000
Our shipping prices include unloading at the plot boundary. In most cases, the material is unloaded with a pallet jack or trailer truck. Contact us if delivery by crane truck is desired and we will come up with a price for this.
Products that are in stock at our central warehouse are normally delivered within 3-9 days.
You should bear this in mind when you order a delivery from us at Stenbolaget: Check that the road is approved for heavy traffic (BK2), that the truck can pass any viaducts and bridges, permits for private roads and commons, etc., any steep slopes, that the unloading place is plan, about telephone and power lines that may be in the way during unloading and trees and bushes that may be in the way (the trucks require a width of 2.6 m and a height of up to 4.5 m). Do not hesitate to contact Stenbolaget if you have questions or are unsure about something related to deliveries.
We deliver with large trucks with trailers (24 meters), which means that it can be difficult to get into narrow streets. Most of our deliveries are unloaded by truck. This needs a width of 3 meters to reach.
Contact us on 08-50335000 or email us at kundservice@stenbolaget.se and we will help you.
Of course, you can pick it up yourself at one of our warehouses. When you order here on our website, you can easily choose at checkout whether you want your goods shipped out or pick them up yourself at our main warehouse. You can also see the stock balance in other stores if you would rather go by and buy your products there.
Outdoor floor
With a few exceptions, all concrete pavers that are at least 50 mm thick are driveable for cars. In the case of larger tiles, it is sometimes required that they are at least 60 mm thick.
A fiber cloth is always placed at the bottom to separate the existing substrate from the filling materials you will later pack. Then continue with a layer of stone crusher/rock crusher 0-32 (0-16 works for non-traffic areas). Add approx. 10 cm for walkways and patios and 20 cm for driveways. The surface is then compacted properly with a soil vibrator. Afterwards, a 2-3 cm thick layer of stone flour 0-4 or Stone chips 2-6 is added to smooth the surface. Last but not least, you place the stone you have chosen. So for a patio it is required to dig out about 13 cm + the thickness of the stone and for a driveway another 10 cm. Stenbolaget's best tip is to use flexible hard joint. It is a joint that hardens and prevents weeds and ants from penetrating. This is available in two different colors and is well adapted to both paving stones and tiles.
When that stone is tumbled, or tumbled as it is sometimes incorrectly called, the stone has been tossed around in a large tumbler to bring out softer edges and give a more rustic, worn impression. A tumbled concrete stone for both ground, edge framing and wall provides a living surface where each stone is rarely the same.
It is most common to use an angle grinder, rotary cutter or motor cutter with a stone or diamond blade. You can also cut your ground stones and smaller concrete slabs with a stone cutter.
We strongly recommend having a curbstone for your paving as it is what will hold the entire paving together. If you don't have a curb, there is a big risk that the outermost tiles in particular could slide apart. A granite curb increases the value of the surface and the garden considerably.
Absolutely, it is becoming more and more common to mix different types of stone, and granite is among the most durable materials you can choose as curbstone. Stylish, durable and a much more exclusive choice for your garden.
Normally, you can count on around 10-15% waste when laying slate irregularly, but it can be more or less. It depends, among other things, on how big joints you work with and thus how many pieces have to be split or discarded.
Our Granite Slabs which are 20 and 30 mm thick are too thin to be laid in stone chips on a driveway in the same way as you do with a tumbled ground stone. However, it is fine to put granite slabs and slates on a driveway if you have a poured concrete slab underneath. These are then mounted in a fix suitable for natural stone. Of course, there are also driveable granite slabs that can be laid in stone chips. These are 60, 80 and 100 mm thick. Fully adapted for different weights and loads on, for example, driveways and other drivable surfaces.
Yes, all granite slabs from Stenbolaget are frost-resistant and cope with our climate exceptionally well.
Most paving stones and concrete slabs have a frieze, also called a distance, which means that the slabs automatically have a joint width of 3 mm. Granite and slate slabs should be laid with a joint of at least 3 mm. For this, you can use tile crosses and other spacers to help.
Soil vibrators are needed to pack crushed stone, iron pipes, wooden studs or similar tools to achieve a good fall on the surface and to be able to pull off the planting bed. Finally, an angle grinder or stone cutter is needed to cut your ground stones and tiles. Read more about this in our Paving stones guide: Laying paving stones in 5 simple steps.
It is most likely lime deposits. This is something that often occurs in a concrete stone and is part of the concrete's hardening process. Lime deposits usually wear off after about a year.
You should not use deicing salt on concrete or natural stone products, sand is preferred.
Walls
Most retaining walls can be built up to a height of one meter without using geonets or other additional anchorages. Retaining wall Waxholm, Muskö, Mursten Gripsholm and Solliden can be built up to a height of 1 m without a geogrid if the walls are built with a backward slope. For higher constructions, geogrids are installed that anchor your wall to the masses behind and enable a higher construction to be built. Read more about each specific wall on its product page or contact us for more information regarding your desired wall height.
Waxholm is a retaining wall that can be built both vertically and with a backward slope. It can be built up to 60 cm without a geonet, with a vertical installation, 1 meter without a net if the wall is sloping and well much higher than that with geonet anchoring. Retaining wall Muskö is a more robust masonry block that provides a solid construction and can withstand high pressures when installing geonets, with inclined construction and when filling each masonry block's cavity in the brick. The main thing that separates these walls is the design of the wall block in the form of chamfering all around and the size of the stone itself.
The most common is to use a sufficiently large motor cap with a stone or diamond blade. There are also stone cliffs suitable for the purpose. But we recommend a motor cap or round cap for best precision.
Most of our retaining walls can be swung without problems as the wall blocks are often wedge-shaped. For some products, there are also special stones for making stronger turns and corner stones for 90-degree corners. See your desired wall's product range and create your unique garden wall and shape.
In general, you must excavate as much behind the wall as it is high, while ten percent of the wall's height must be below ground. Closest behind the retaining wall, there should be a layer of approx. 15-20 cm with Macadam 8-16 for drainage. A drainage pipe is laid behind the bottom stone to divert water away. The remaining space behind the wall is filled up and packed with stone crusher 0-32 using a lighter soil vibrator.

Generally, you do not need to use mortar or concrete to attach the stones. However, in some constructions it can sometimes be good to use concrete to cast a base plate to create an even surface to start stacking the stones on. Stone glue and locking plugs are what you generally use to build a concrete retaining wall.
A geonet is a fiber or plastic net that is attached to a retaining wall and then stretched horizontally behind the wall. The filling masses then hold the net and anchor the wall. A geogrid is used to increase the stability of a retaining wall and thus enable higher constructions and much more stable walls.
Indoor stone
Yes you can. However, a polished stone does not absorb water as quickly as a polished or Flamed & Brushed surface. This means that there is a greater risk of a film of water lying on the stone and it can therefore become very slippery. Most of our stones for indoor use have a ground, brushed, planed or natural surface. And a granite ceramic is otherwise a perfect choice, whose different surfaces are well suited for indoor floors.
Depending on the stone and surface treatment you have, you may need to treat the stone. As a rule, you never need to treat a polished stone. For the treatment of polished, natural surfaces and flamed stones, we recommend our Akemi range.
Falling lengths mean that the plates are not sawn with a fixed length measurement, but the width is always fixed. This gives a very lively surface and a floor that really stands out. It is common for slate floors to be sold in descending lengths.
It is important that you use a fix and joint adapted to natural stone. If you use corresponding products for tiles, there is a high risk of discolouration of the stone. Our Murexin range is adapted for use with natural stone. Ask us for advice when you order your stone floor or granite ceramic.
Yes, natural stone conducts heat well and provides a pleasant indoor floor.
Limestone is a softer stone compared to e.g. granite and slate. If you want to lay the stone on a surface that is exposed to a lot of wear and tear (hallway and bathroom), it is important that you impregnate it regularly in periods of about three to six months.
How sensitive the stone is depends on which variety it is and which treatment it has. In general, natural stone is a relatively durable material compared to e.g. wood. What you should think about is impregnating the stone according to instructions and removing acidic substances that are spilled on the stone as soon as possible. Certain wear and tear on a natural stone contributes to creating a nice patina.
Natural stone is a material that is quarried directly from the rock and then sawn and treated. Because it is a natural material, each tile is unique in its appearance. Tiles and clinkers are ceramic tiles that are mass-produced in factories.
When laying natural stone, the same principle is used as when laying tiles and clinker. However, the thickness of the natural stone can vary by a few millimeters and it may therefore require a little more adjustment to get a smooth surface.
Since natural stone is cut from large blocks of stone, there is a possibility that some tiles will differ in dimensions compared to others. Because of this, you should have a joint of at least 2-3 mm to compensate for any differences. Granite ceramics are also installed with a joint of 2-3 mm for best results.
