Irregular slate is a common sight in Jämtland, where the stone has been quarried for many years. The stone has a so-called claw surface, which means that it has a structure without being sharp.

Appearance

The stone maintains a dark gray shade but comes with some shifting tones and shades. This is what makes a Slate floor so beautiful. The claw surface contributes both to character, feel and a beautiful surface structure. The tiles come completely irregular, which means that a lot of processing and cutting is a must to create your puzzle. It is precisely the irregular format that gives the unique flooring. A tip is to count on approx. 10-15% waste when laying an irregular stone.

Installation and maintenance

Laying irregular slate is a bit like putting together a puzzle where you have to try your hand at finding pieces that fit well together and to achieve the pattern and joint width you want. Unlike the corresponding stone for outdoor use, this is calibrated to maintain a uniform thickness of 12 mm. In this way, it becomes easier to fix the tiles indoors, where the requirements for thickness are significantly higher than when you lay stone on, for example, a patio. Slate is installed in natural stone fix, and we recommend Murexin KTF55 for best results. For the joint, a cement-based hard joint is needed that can handle a slightly wider joint width than many other tiles for indoor environments. SF50 a good alternative to that. The tiles can be installed with underfloor heating without any problems and fit perfectly in all areas of the home.
